Celtic goalkeeper Joe Hart will retire at the end of this season and Brendan Rodgers’ side have to sign his successor in the summer window.
Journalist Romain Van der Pluym took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to say Celtic would like to sign VfL Wolfsburg’s Koen Casteels.
The 31-year-old is also on Anderlecht’s radar and they will face competition from Brendan Rodgers’ side to secure his services.
Van der Pluym has provided more updates on Celtic’s interest in Casteels, via La Dernière Heure.
The report states Brendan Rodgers’ side are looking at several stoppers and the Belgium international is ‘at the top of the list’ to replace Hart at Celtic Park next season.
Celtic have made contact with the Wolfsburg player over a possible transfer in the next window, and when approached by La Dernière Heure, the goalkeeper refused to confirm or deny this.
Casteels has just over a month left on his deal and wants a ‘new challenge’ next season. Celtic can offer him Champions League football, which the report says isn’t guaranteed as of now at Anderlecht.
Brendan Rodgers’ side would ‘like to hire’ the Belgian and have made contact. He wants a move but Celtic must be wary of Anderlecht as La Dernière Heure say they are a ‘serious’ option for Casteels.
