Swansea City are working on appointing a new manager after parting ways with Alan Sheehan earlier this week.
On Thursday, Expressen stated Swansea City have identified Hammarby IF manager Kim Hellberg as their main candidate. It was also revealed he has a SEK 2.5-3m [€230-270k] release clause in his contract.
Later that day, the same outlet reported the 37-year-old had travelled to England to hold talks with Swansea City. That was specifically England, not a an embarrassing geographical mistake from the Swedish newspaper.
A fresh report from Expressen relays all this and covers the latest on the Swans’ efforts to secure Hellberg.
The manager is now expected to meet Swansea City CEO Tom Gorringe in London. The Welsh club want to ‘finalise the deal as soon as possible’.
With the Championship side pushing concretely, Hammarby IF have identified two main candidates to replace Hellberg. They are Gais boss Fredrik Holmberg and Västerås SK coach Kalle Karlsson. The latter is also being pursued by AIK Fotboll.
Hellberg is negotiating with Swansea City in London. More developments are expected in this case.
Whether the parties can agree terms remains to be seen, while Hammarby IF are working on a replacement.
