Today, March 11th, could be Igor Tudor’s last at Tottenham Hotspur following the disastrous 5-2 defeat to Atletico Madrid on Tuesday evening.

That’s according to Sportske Novosti, who cover the Tottenham manager today. The Croatian newspaper are less than impressed by the Tottenham boss.

Tudor is facing heavy criticism today following the heavy defeat at the Metropolitano, and the horror show for Antonín Kinský.

Tudor handed him his Champions League debut in the game, starting him ahead of Guglielmo Vicario. That decision backfired drastically.

Kinský horror show

The 22-year-old committed two major mistakes in the first 15 minutes to hand Atletico the lead. Tudor then replaced him after 17 minutes, with Tottenham already 3-0 down.

Tudor was handed responsibility for events, and the reaction has not been in his favour. Sportske Novosti continue that today.

While they say that he is not to blame for the ‘absolute chaos’ at Tottenham, he drove his final nail into his own coffin. The Champions League debacle on Tuesday only pushed him closer to the exit.

That’s an opinion shared by Sportske Novosti journalists Damir Dobrinić and Tvrtko Puljić. They were less than impressed by their compatriot’s decisions.

“Today may be the last day that Tudor will be the coach,” said the former.

“The pressure is terrible; the club’s legends are saying that Tudor is a failure and that it is not good.”

“We need to go back to the beginning when Tudor accepted the position of coach,” added Puljić.

“Of course, when you get an offer to work in the Premier League, to work with one of the biggest English clubs, Tottenham, it’s something you can’t refuse.

“However, looking at Igor Tudor’s career, it’s not the first time he’s entered into something that’s completely uncertain and where, at least in his mind, he must know that it won’t last very long.”

Tottenham owners to blame

As Dobrinić has it, the issues lie more with those in charge at Tottenham, who surely know they’ve made a mistake.

“Those people who brought him in must know that they made a mistake only after practically a month of his arrival, and the club owners are probably assessing whether they should continue to lead the club,” he concluded.

The question is whether Tottenham do elect to make another change. At this point, they appear to be sinking straight to relegation under Tudor’s guidance.

The Croatian is yet to show anything positive. Defeat to Crystal Palace should have been the low point, but instead the Atletico debacle has now happened and they’ve sunk lower.

It’s up to Tudor to drag them back up, but there’s been no signs he is the man to do that. In fact, his treatment of Kinský would suggest otherwise.

Tottenham may want to get the Liverpool game out of the way first. A good result is unlikely, but if Tudor somehow wins then it could turn everything on its head. Should Spurs lose then it be a quick goodbye, with the next match a free-hit against Atletico, followed by Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.
