The Spanish media have now gradually realised that Everton will want real money, whether a transfer fee or loan payment, to see Sandro leave the club in January.

When rumours of a move to Valencia first popped up, there was a widespread Spanish assumption that Everton would be ridiculously easy to deal with and Sandro could arrive with not much effort.

Everton having the temerity to have a transfer stance, and even use transfer tactics, knocked some in the Spanish media back, who, shocked at the development, reported a deal was pretty much dead.

Now sense has broken out.

Super Deporte say the idea of a move is still there but Sandro needs to make an effort. ‘The time is now’ for the striker to show how much he wants a Valencia move, and that will involve him taking a much lower salary than he’s already on.

Currently said to be paid €6m a season by Everton, Valencia want him to take less, for financial and squad harmony reasons, and it’s not thought the Premier League side will make up the difference.
