New Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Emmanuel Agbadou has warned his teammates to expect an immediate impact from him, literally.
The centre-back has been speaking to Liberation about his career to date and how he always makes an immediate impact wherever he is.
The 27-year-old joined Wolves in a €20m from Stade Reims earlier this month. He is expected to be one of several new faces arriving at Molineux this month.
The step to the Premier League is the latest in a varied career for the defender so far. It’s seen him play in the Ivory Costa, Tunisia, Belgium, France and now England.
He’s certainly had to work his way up the ranks to get to where he is today, like many African footballers who look to make their way in Europe.
The hope is that he can have an immediate impact on the Wolves defence, which has been one of the worst in the Premier League this season.
Things have not got off to the greatest start as he made his debut in the 3-0 defeat to Newcastle United this week. He, though, has plans to make an impact as soon as possible.
“When I arrive somewhere, I don’t try to make an impact with my technique but through my aggressiveness,” he said.
“It has nothing to do with the fact that I am a defender. I am sending a signal: ‘This guy, he is not here to joke around. It is better not to have him in my way.’
“When I arrived in Reims in 2022, I cut [the Dutch midfielder] Azor Matusiwa in the first training session. He was an important player here, but I didn’t care. I had to make my place in Europe.”
