As far as transfer disappointments go, Gustaf Lagerbielke’s cancelled move from Celtic to Lecce in January is up there.
After all, the Swede, who is barely used by Brendan Rodgers at Celtic Park, was very excited about moving to Italy, but the move was scuppered by the fitness of Cameron Carter-Vickers.
He then made it very clear in the Italian media he wanted to leave Celtic and go play in Serie A, reiterating a desire to play regularly back in March, with him still a target for some Italian clubs, as revealed by Aftonbladet.
The newspaper have a podcast called Question Disco, where Daniel Kristoffersson answers some transfer questions, with Lagerbielke’s future discussed.
It’s explained the Celtic defender is ‘still relevant’ for a transfer to Italy in the next transfer window, and there are ‘three clubs that are interested’ in signing the centre-back.
That will be great news for the 23-year-old, who has featured just twice in the Scottish Premiership since the end of the January transfer window, appearing for 27 minutes in a 3-0 win over St Mirren and then for four minutes at the end of the 3-1 victory over St Johnstone.
He rarely appears in Celtic’s match day squads, re-emphasising a need for him to move far away from Brendan Rodgers in the next transfer window, where Italian teams are ready to welcome him.
