Earlier this week, Corriere dello Sport were confident that AS Roma will soon accelerate a move for Tottenham’s Radu Dragusin.
The defender got married this week in Budapest and then returned to London, holding talks with his agent Florin Manea about a transfer.
Further discussions were expected, with the defender having agreed terms over a move to Roma. An agreement between the Italian side and Tottenham was missing but the Giallorossi remained optimistic about signing the Romania international.
Since then, nothing has moved in the right direction for Roma.
Sportmediaset offer an update and explain Dragusin can now stay at Tottenham.
The report claims that Thomas Frank is keen on having four defenders in his squad. The 23-year-old will be the fourth, with Cristian Romero, Micky Van de Ven and Kevin Danso having done well this season.
The Dane’s decision means that Dragusin’s Roma move is ‘becoming more complicated’.
Giallorossi sporting director Ricky Massara is believed to have the centre-back on the agenda for weeks. Now, the move could be fading away.
Mirko di Natale also seems pessimistic about Roma signing the Spurs man.
He reported on Thursday that if the Italian club don’t sign Dragusin, Juventus could look to bring him back to Turin.
Pressure being put on to push for Tottenham player
The journalist provided an update on Friday, speaking of contact from AC Milan. He claimed that the Rossoneri asked for information about the player ‘in the last few hours’.
This is a sign that Roma’s task is getting more difficult with every passing day. Talk of interest from other Italian clubs is likely an attempt from Dragusin’s entourage to rush Gian Piero Gasperini’s side into an agreement.
The transfer can now hinge on Tottenham’s decision and if they land a possible replacement before the window slams shut. Spurs may also be in on the negotiation games, with pressure on Roma building.
