Fares Ghedjemis is having an impressive season at Frosinone so far. Celtic came forward for the attacker in January and they have been given hope of a summer deal.

In the winter transfer window, Sport Witness extensively covered Celtic’s approach for the winger. The Scottish giants made a formal offer but Frosinone were quick to reject it, having very little time to find a replacement.

Across the campaign, Ghedjemis has played 32 times in all competitions and is having a key role in their push for promotion. He’s racked up 12 goals, scoring against South Tyrol in Serie B at the weekend and also found the net against Cesena earlier this month.

All this is likely to attract more attention than ever and the 23-year-old’s agent has opened up about his future.

Celtic offer rejected in January

Fares Ghedjemis’ agent Fabrizio Ferrari spoke at the Palermo Football Meeting on Tuesday evening. He discussed a lot of his clients, with one of them being the Frosinone star. He revealed that an approach, likely from Celtic, was rejected in January.

When asked about a possible renewal, Ferrari said – relayed by Tuttomercatoweb: “The renewal? It was an option already present in the contract signed with Frosinone that it was their right to exercise.”

Speaking about how things were two months ago, the agent revealed Ghedjemis himself turned down a move, but with a view to going in the summer.

“The market rumours about him in January? He really wanted to finish the season with a promotion. This was the boy’s intention, with Frosinone then potentially monetising the operation in the summer.”

Ferrari’s comments indicate the player’s future is likely to be in question in the summer.

Deal may not prove easy for Celtic

The way things are going for the Algerian, he is quite likely to attract a lot of interest in the summer. Serie A clubs can also start to take note of Fares Ghedjemis’ performances, even if Frosinone end up staying in Serie B.

That is why Celtic will have to be careful about this move or they may end up potentially overpaying.

Frosinone paid only €300k to sign the winger in 2024 and would want to earn as much as possible from a sale. They will not mind creating an auction for their key asset, regardless of which division they find themselves in.
