Beto’s agent had been set for a third meeting with Fenerbahçe today before Everton’s demands brought the transfer crashing down.
That’s according to A Spor, relayed by Türkiye Gazetesi. They say that a third meeting had been planned with Fenerbahçe today.
The Everton striker had been targeted as a potential replacement for Youssef En-Nesyri. He looks set to move to Italy and the Turkish side will need to bring a striker in to bolster their squad.
Beto has fallen behind Thierno Barry in the pecking order at Everton and that opened the door to a deal. He was reportedly offered to Fenerbahçe by his agent. That agent, Chi Azeh Ivo, was then spotted in Istanbul.
Reports in Türkiye explained he’d held two separate meetings with Fenerbahçe about a move. Then it all came crashing down today. according to reports, Everton had demanded €20m from Fenerbahçe for their striker.
That saw the Turkish side completely pull out of talks and the agent to leave Istanbul. He, presumably, was heading back to England for talks with the Toffees.
A Spor, via Türkiye Gazetesi, now report another additional bit of information. According to them, Chi Azeh Ivo had been set to meet with Fenerbahçe for a third time today. That was due to be the final meeting between the various parties.
They had specifically invited Beto’s agent to Istanbul for the talks. That would suggest that they were confident he could be signed from Everton this month.
Instead, the deal has now been ‘abandoned’ completely and Beto’s agent has left Istanbul completely. What happens next, should make for interesting viewing.
