Malaga are waiting to see if West Ham United’s deal to sell Pablo Fornals to Real Betis is ratified by FIFA, as they’re set for a piece of the transfer pie.
That’s according to AS, who say the Spanish side could be set to earn around €200,000 if the deal goes through.
Betis and West Ham are currently awaiting a FIFA verdict on Fornals move to the Spanish side today after a computer error at the London Stadium threw the deal into jeopardy last night.
Reports in Spain have explained that West Ham failed to add an agent’s name to FIFA’s transfer system, meaning they in turn failed to ratify the deal between the two sides.
FIFA are meeting in Zurich today to discuss the issue and potentially approve it, with Betis hopeful after the signing was provisionally approved by La Liga.
Should the deal be approved, Betis would be paying around €8m for the West Ham and Malaga will receive ‘a good pinch’ of that if they do.
According to AS, they’re set for a piece of the transfer pie as Fornals played for them between 2012 and 2017 so would receive funds via FIFA’s solidarity mechanism. As such they would get around €200,000, 0.5% of the transfer, or around €40,000 for every year spent at the Spanish club.
That extra income would be most welcome for Malaga, who have spent this year picking up various similar payments thanks to former players moving.
