Last week, Calciomercato.it journalist Raffaele Amato reported RB Leipzig’s Joško Gvardiol has reached an agreement with Manchester City over personal terms.

Sky Deutschland have backed it up and they then provide more on the Citizens’ pursuit of the 21-year-old.

After reaching a verbal agreement with the defender, Sky now say ‘things are getting serious’ in Manchester City’s efforts.

It’s said the leaders of both the Premier League winners and the German club have been in discussions over a transfer fee for the centre-back. Pep Guardiola’s side are starting with an offer of €90m plus bonuses.

If the deal goes through, it’ll make the Croatia international the most expensive defender in history. Leipzig are aware they could see Gvardiol move elsewhere and have already lined up a few options to replace him in this window.

Over at Bild, they state the Bundesliga side are requesting €100m for their star and the treble winners are preparing an offer close to this. They add Gvardiol’s loss would ‘hurt’ Leipzig while also allowing them to earn big from his sale to Manchester City.

The Croatian scored three goals from 41 games for Leipzig last season.
