Impressing at Lecce this season as a first-team player, Patrick Dorgu has continued to be a person of interest for clubs, including Chelsea.
The Blues are in a somewhat privileged position if they do end up going after the left-back because he is a big fan of the Stamford Bridge side.
He’s said so in the past, and repeated his love for Chelsea in an interview with Flashscore in Denmark last week, which appears to have gone unnoticed until now.
This comes amid rumours that other teams, like Manchester City and Liverpool, are also keen on his services, but that’s not something he pays a lot of attention to for the time being.
He said: “I don’t spend that much time on it. There are always rumours and my agent has been approached, but right now I am under contract in Lecce and then we’ll see what happens.”
Despite having a long dream of playing for Chelsea at some point in his career, he also knows the opportunity might not come in the near future, which is why his door is open for other clubs too when the time to leave Lecce comes.
He added: “I have been a Chelsea fan for many years, so of course it’s clear that it is a dream. That’s not to say I can’t switch to other teams in the Premier League, but even if things aren’t going so well for them right now, they’re my team.”
It was reported last November that Chelsea were interested in signing the now 19-year-old, with it made clear that negotiating with him would be the easy part.
The defender has made 26 appearances for Lecce this season, scoring one goal and picking up one assist.
