Former Manchester City striker Lukas Nmechas has revealed they will be signing ‘another top striker’ this summer, which prompted him to leave the club.

Nmecha recently left the Etihad to join Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga, having spent last season on loan at Anderlecht.

He had impressed with the Belgian club under the guidance of Vincent Kompany, and they were keen to take him back on a permanent basis but could not convince him or City of the deal.

What would happen with Nmecha this summer had been up in the air for some time, with it unknown whether Manchester City would keep him or sell.

The latter had always looked likely as he was entering the final year of his contract at the club, and a new deal would have been needed if City were to avoid losing him on a free.

Ultimately they’ve decided to sell up, and Nmecha has revealed his own reasons for pushing for the move.

“I had one year left on my contract,” he told Kicker when asked about the situation.

“They’re bringing in another top striker; I don’t think my chance would have been very big there.”

So there you have it, Manchester City fans, it seems despite what your manager is saying publicly, that top-level  striker will be arriving at some point this summer.

Who it is, remains to be seen, with the likes of Harry Kane, Erling Haaland and even Robert Lewandowski all mooted at this point.

Whoever it is, Nmecha is at least sure they’ll be arriving, hence why he’s now jumped ship to try his luck in the Bundesliga once again.
