Nicolas Jackson’s agent, Ali Barat, believes Bayern Munich will buy the striker from Chelsea on a permanent basis in some manner this summer.

RMC Sport have an interview with the agent today after a busy summer, largely spent negotiating Jackson’s move to the German champions.

He proved to be on the dramas of the summer after Chelsea initially agreed a deal with Bayern for him, only to cancel that at the last minute when Liam Delap suffered a hamstring injury in the win over Fulham.

Jackson was already in Munich at that point and refused to return, forcing Chelsea to re-negotiate with Bayern over a loan deal for him.

One was eventually agreed that saw Bayern pay €16.5m for the initial loan and a purchase obligation for next summer worth €80m if he plays 40 games. That obligation is an option at €65m if he plays fewer than that total.

Whether they do take up either in a year’s time will be dependent on Jackson’s performances in Munich this year, but Barat believes a permanent deal will be done with Chelsea either way.

“You know, it’s a long season,” he said.

“They have a mandatory purchase option if he plays 40 games, but they also have a €65 million option.

“So, I think if Nico Jackson performs well this season, given the current market price for strikers, at €65 million in my opinion, they should buy him.

“Again, it all depends on how Jackson fits in and performs. But normally, with the potential he has, I don’t think they’ll have a problem paying the €65 million fee at the end of the summer.”
