Sirius midfielder Leo Walta has confirmed that Swansea City are showing an interest in him ahead of the January transfer window.

Fotboll Direkt cover comments from the 22-year-old today. The ‘Finnish superstar’ has confirmed Swansea City are chasing him.

The IK Sirius midfielder is highly sought after. He’s scored 16 goals in the Allsvenskan this year, is the forth top scorer in the league and has been nominated for midfielder of the year too.

That’s seen foreign interest in Walta grow. A report two weeks ago stated that Swansea City want to buy him. They had reportedly already made contact with Sirius about a possible deal.

That interest seemingly tied into their efforts to appoint Kim Hellberg. It was made clear he was a big fan of the midfielder. Hellberg, of course, ended up being appointed by Middlesbrough instead.

Swansea City’s interest was not tied to him. Not at least according to Walta. He’s made it clear that the Swans are continuing to pursue him. And he feels that he is more than ready for a move to the Championship side.

“Yes. Yes, I have heard (from them),” he said about Swansea. “That they like me as a player and are interested.”

“It’s quite early, we’re still in November. I’m going through different options, and we also have to talk to Sirius about the winter,” he said added about a transfer.

“I’m ready for a good league and to take a place straight away. I am a pretty good player, in my opinion, and I want to take a big step and see how far I can go.”
