Celtic are set to face Feyenoord in the Europa League, in what will be their fifth group stage fixture of this season.

Dutch commentator Jeroen Grueter believes Feyenoord don’t have to worry about Celtic. He was among the panellists on the latest episode of FC Rijnmond.

Fr12.nl have relayed his comments about the match against Matin O’Neill’s side.

Grueter and others discussed the Dutch club’s busy fixture list ahead of the winter break. This includes the clash against Celtic. The discussion took place before Robin van Persie’s side suffered a 4-2 defeat to NEC Nijmegen on Sunday.

Former Feyenoord striker Harry van der Laan insisted the European clash against Celtic takes more importance than the league tie against NEC. Journalist Dennis van Eersel said Van Perise will take the Europa League tie on Thursday into account when picking his lineup for NEC.

Grueter found his fellow panellists’ analysis to be ‘remarkably negative’.

He believes Feyenoord should have focused on the NEC clash as it would have helped them close the gap at the top. They are second in the league table, six points behind leaders PSV Eindhoven.

Grueter suggests Feyenoord don’t have to be concerned about the Bhoys considering their run this season. In short, the Dutch commentator has aimed a dig at Celtic.

“I don’t understand why Feyenoord would give up the title. They’re having an excellent season, and you can lose to Go Ahead Eagles at some point. You want to be champions, and you have to finish second, so you simply have to beat NEC,” he said.

“We can pretend that Celtic are Champions League-level, but that’s absolutely not the case. They’re playing worse than I’ve seen them play in the last 15 years.”

Celtic have collected four points in Europe and are currently 27th in the table, four points behind eight placed FC Viktoria Plzeň.
