Gabriel Carvalho’s agent has been left bemused by claims Arsenal are set to make a big bid for his client this week, insisting that there’s nothing going on behind the scenes.

Augusto Nogueira has been speaking to Revista Colorada about his client and the reports of an incoming bid from Arsenal.

Reports earlier this year first linked Carvalho with Arsenal and Manchester City before it was then claimed two days ago that the Gunners were set to make a €25m bid for the 16-year-old.

That created a lot of excitement, with the story quickly spreading and becoming an issue in Brazil given Internacional have 100% of the player’s rights and could be set to earn a major income on the player.

It seems any excitement may have been unfounded, though, as Nogueira has insisted that “absolutely nothing exists” and that no Arsenal representative “has even spoken about the player”.

That’s about as conclusive as an agent can get on such a matter and, with Internacional also well protected after recently signing the youngster to a new contract until 2028, there’s no reason for them to sell yet anyway.

It means this one can be put to one side for now, unless Arsenal suddenly decide they are interested and do something official like contacting Nogueira about him.
