Wolves defender Ladislav Krejci is not a target for VfB Stuttgart, even if there is movement in their defence this summer.

Stuttgarter Zeitung shut down the transfer rumour today after reports elsewhere in Germany insisted Stuttgart were interested in the 27-year-old.

Stuttgart rumour denied

The newspaper reports that, according to information obtained by their editorial team, there is no truth to the rumours that Stuttgart are interested in the Wolves defender. Ladislav Krejci is simply not on their list.

VfB are not considering signing the Czech player this summer, even if there are further developments in their central defensive options.

The German club recently extended Dan-Axel Zagadou’s contract. He is one of six central defensive options in their current squad. Even potential exits would not change their stance about the Wolves defender.

Whether the Czech Republic international does end up leaving Molineux this summer remains to be seen.

Wolves paid €30m

He only officially joined Wolves on a permanent basis earlier this month following his loan deal from Girona last summer. That deal is worth around €30m.

But it was finalised while Wolves were a Premier League team. Now they’re back in the Championship, and big sales will be needed to balance the books. It’s also unclear if the 27-year-old is happy playing in England’s second tier next season.

The assumption had been that Wolves would see a long list of departures this summer following relegation. But so far, only Matt Doherty has departed. Angel Gomes has also returned to Marseille following his loan spell.

Perhaps that will change as the summer progresses and clubs start making their moves after the World Cup. Either way, Stuttgart won’t be moving for the Wolves defender despite reports to the contrary in Germany over the last week. He will need to look for other options if he wishes to leave Molineux in the coming weeks.

In October, the defender said: “We’re not a team of egos or soloists. Everyone realises what we’re about. Wolverhampton should not be the last step in any of our careers, we have a great chance to show ourselves and grow, but of course the age composition of the team also corresponds to this.
