Jack Harrison joined Fiorentina on loan from Leeds United in January and was seen as a potential saviour. However, it’s not exactly going to plan and the weekend saw a further downturn.

Sport Witness covered the deal extensively, with the Italian side having secured an option to buy of around €6m, but it’s unlikely they’ll sign him permanently in the summer.

Leeds United would have been hopeful of a return from the player’s sale. That hope was encouraged when he assisted in his second appearance for La Viola.

Now, things have gone from bad to worse for the Englishman. He featured in Fiorentina’s 0-0 draw against Parma at the weekend, failing to contribute in any way.

Criticism has grown, with newspapers describing him as ‘the worst’ performer – as relayed by FirenzeViola.

Leeds United player booed by Fiorentina fans

The outlet note that the 29-year-old was actually booed off by La Viola fans in the second-half. He had failed to do anything of note, amidst the claim that he was ‘full of errors’ in the tie.

This denied Fiorentina the possibility of creating enough chances, with Harrison’s technical flaws being laid bare by the outlet.

FirenzeViola don’t stop there, as they point out at the ratings various newspapers gave to the winger.

Both Gazzetta dello Sport and Corriere dello Sport gave Harrison only 4.5/10. TuttoSport and Florence-based Corriere Fiorentino went down the same route, appearing unimpressed.

This is increasingly becoming a pattern for the player, who also struggled in the 3-0 loss to Udinese some days ago. There is belief he seems disconnected from the rest of the players on the pitch, having struggled to fit in quickly.

Our take on Harrison’s situation at Fiorentina

It is important to know that Fiorentina themselves appear like a club drowning and every player seems to be struggling. While they may not get relegated, the lack of a tactical identity is holding everyone back – even Moise Kean.

That negative atmosphere has probably got to Harrison too. Besides, he hadn’t done much at Leeds United this season and the move to Italy was partly to turn around that bad situation.

As of now, Fiorentina don’t inspire confidence and it rubs off on the players. Harrison is getting extra attention because he was a hyped January signing. Arrivals in the middle of the season often find it difficult to settle in right away and he’s fallen victim to that.
