Fabio Silva is finally set for his first appearance at Borussia Dortmund after joining from Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer.

That’s according to Ruhr Nachrichten, who announce that ‘the ordeal is over’ and Silva is finally set to at least be in a matchday squad.

According to their information, the 22-year-old is set for his Dortmund debut and will travel with the squad this week for their clash against Mainz if there are no setbacks in their final two training sessions this week.

The summer signing from Wolves has so far been absent with an adductor injury he suffered on loan at Las Palmas last season.

Surgery was necessary but Dortmund only learned of this just before his medical at the end of August. Reports at the time indicated Silva had kept the injury quiet to get the move away from Wolves he wanted this summer.

Dortmund went ahead with it, despite internal frustrations after it also happening with Serhou Guirassy, and now he’s set for an appearance.

That’s come after he upped his workload in recent days and trained fully with the first team for the first time this week. That’s made him available for the squad, at least, but whether he gets minutes remains to be seen.

Either way, there is now light at the end of the tunnel for the former Wolves forward and perhaps for Dortmund too after the frustration over that injury.
