Fenerbahçe loanee Edson Alvarez spoke to the Turkish media following his side’s 2-1 victory over Nice in the Europa League last night.
The Mexican was loaned from West Ham United in the summer, with an option to purchase at the end of the season.
Sabah have reported on comments made by Alvarez when he was asked how he’s adapted following his arrival. The central midfielder said that since joining Fenerbahçe he and his family have settled into life in Istanbul.
Alvarez explained his teammates have helped him adapt to the club, and he also had praise for Fenerbahçe supporters.
“Since the first day, I’ve seen that there is unity within the team. On the first day, I felt at home, in the family. Adaptation was very fast for my family. The city is beautiful, the team is beautiful, the fans are beautiful. I hope we will all experience great happiness together,” said the Mexico international.
Brought in by Jose Mourinho during the last window, the 26-year-old has struggled with fitness since signing. Mourinho has also left Fener after their exit in the Champions League play-offs to Benfica.
However, the West Ham owned player returned to action last night, coming on as a second half substitute. It’s expected he will be part of the squad which travels to Samsunspor at the weekend.
