Fiorentina have opened their door for Leeds United’s Jack Harrison in the winter market.

The winger hasn’t had regular game time under Daniel Farke this season. He’s played 263 minutes from 10 Premier League matches which includes just one start.

Two days ago, the Italian media initially covered Fiorentina interest. They reported the Serie A side had reached an agreement in principle with Leeds United.

On Wednesday, La Nazione stated the 29-year-old would be on his way to Italy within hours. La Viola reached a quick deal with Leeds United to sign him on loan with a €10m purchase option.

Claims from Italy then explained that Farke’s side had pushed the terms of the deal. Sportitalia journalist Gianluigi Longari stated Leeds United want a £15m purchase obligation instead of an option. That would be far too much for Fiorentina, especially given the looming threat of relegation.

Leeds United scared Fiorentina with initial request

They are 18th in the table, three points behind 17th placed US Lecce. It looked like a bargaining position from Leeds United and that appears to have been the case.

Gianluca Di Marzio now covers the latest on Fiorentina’s efforts to sign Harrison and tries to calm things down.

He insists ‘there are no formula issues’ around this operation as Leeds United have ‘approved’ this operation. This means Fiorentina can sign him on loan with an option to buy, rather than an obligation.

Salary issue will now be sorted out

Harrison’s ‘very high salary’ at the Premier League side seems to be causing an issue. Di Marzio claims work is ongoing to resolve the wage issue. Fiorentina aren’t able to cover his full salary and may want cooperation from the player or Leeds United.

He adds the parties are finalising the details of the attacker’s contract. Harrison’s final approval is now pending for Fiorentina to complete his loan signing. There should be more developments in the next few hours.

Di Marzio states ‘the clubs have agreed’ and those involved are are ‘finalising the details’.
