Watford’s Imrân Louza is very happy with his start to the season.
Tuesday’s edition of Ouest-France has published an interview with the 26-year-old, discussing a few topics including his future.
He’s been operating as a defensive and central midfielder this season. The French-born attacker has scored six goals and contributed four assists from 13 matches.
The newspaper asked about his good run for the Hornets, and Louza is clearly delighted with his form but insists he can improve.
“It’s good. For a defensive midfielder, the stats are there. Naturally, I can only be happy,” he said.
“But I’m someone who always demands more, who focuses on the smallest details. I don’t want to be satisfied with just the stats.”
The player explained what’s changed when compared to his previous seasons at Watford.
“I’m full of confidence. I’ve regained that leadership I had before at Nantes,” Louza explained.
“It’s easier for me to be confident. That’s what I lacked in my first few years at Watford. Rediscovering that side of me can only give me wings. I feel liberated, I don’t overthink things, I just go for it. I enjoy every moment, I try to play with my heart, with my head, and that’s what works.”
Watford star throws exit door open
Louza joined from Nantes in 2019 and has a contract until 2028, Ouest-France were curious to know his future plans.
The midfielder has left the door wide open.
“We’ll see. It’s true that I want to experience something different, the club is aware of that, they know what I want,” he added.
“But now that the transfer windows are closed, I’m focused on my club. What’s meant to happen will happen in January or next summer. If I have opportunities that suit me, I’ll make the best decision.”
Louza recently changed agent. The newspaper asked whether this ‘is a sign’ that he could leave Javi Gracia’s side in the winter market.
“If I change agents, it’s for a reason. It’s not a message, but there’s more to it than that. I think the people I’ve chosen will be on the same page as me and will find something that suits me,” he said.
