Napoli star Victor Osimhen has been repeatedly linked to Manchester United and Arsenal over the past few weeks.

A few days ago, reports in the English press stated the striker’s agents flew to London to hold talks with the Gunners over a potential summer move.

However, the agents have had no contact with Arsenal so far. This has been revealed by the Nigeria international’s friend, Oma Akatugba, who is also a journalist.

“A clarification, however, it’s a must: someone writes about Riccardo Calenda in contact with Arsenal, but that’s not the case,” Akatugba told 1 Station Radio’s program, 1 Football Club, as relayed by Area Napoli.

“I respect everyone’s work, but there is still nothing concrete, for now. The player is owned by Napoli, he has a contract with the Azzurri. Victor is fine in Naples and Napoli want to keep him, even if in football, you know, anything can happen.”

Akatugba stressed his friend is happy with his life at the Serie A side.

However, the Nigerian journalist did give a hint that there could be interest from the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United.

“At Napoli, he settled down and showed that he knows how to make an impact in Serie A. He is very comfortable in this reality, and he has also learned to manage himself better on a nervous level, getting fewer cardsNapoli are a different club from the others. Despite injuries and Covid-19, Osimhen has done well, and I hope he stays in Campania to continue growing,” he explained.

“Lots of market rumours about Victor between Arsenal, Newcastle, Manchester United? Maybe something will happen, because the rumours do not come out of nowhere, especially in England.”

The Osimhen rumours aren’t likely to go away in the coming weeks, but perhaps it’s likelier the Napoli player will leave in summer 2023 rather than this window.
