Fulham star Raul Jimenez has insisted he has no ill feeling towards David Luiz after his part in the skull fracture he suffered in 2020.

Jimenez has been speaking to TNT Sports Mexico in which he was asked for an opinion about Luiz among several other faces from his career.

While the rest were all teammates or former trainers, the connection to Luiz is a bit different as the Brazilian was part of undoubtedly the lowest point of Jimenez’s career.

The former Arsenal defender was the man who accidentally headbutted Jimenez when challenging alongside the striker for a corner when Arsenal took on Wolves in November 2020.

The collision saw Jimenez suffer a fractured skull which left him requiring surgery and in intensive care, with his life very much on the line.

It was believed that he would never return to football, and he spent eight months recovering from the injury, six months of which he was banned from playing or training with other players.

He managed to do so, though, battling against the odds to now star for Fulham, overcoming the various challenges that have popped up since the injury.

Luiz was heavily criticised at the time despite the incident being an unfortunate, sickening moment of bad luck, and Jimenez insists he bears him no ill will.

“I don’t have any resentment towards him, you know?” he said.

“It’s something that happened in football and that’s it, that’s it. I have nothing, nothing against him. I spoke to him at the time when the accident happened.

“I had some messages from him on my mobile. Then they went to play Wolverhampton for the second game, and I was in the park, they got beaten and as soon as he came off the pitch, he knew where I was and he came up there to see me in the park.”
