VfB Stuttgart are continuing to thank the Heavens that striker Serhou Guirassy turned down a move to Fulham this summer.
That’s according to Tag 24, who say it is a case of ‘Thank God’ for the German side as the striker continues to top the goalscoring charts in the Bundesliga.
They explain that despite Harry Kane being the man on everyone’s lips at the moment, the reality is that the ‘real star of the Bundesliga’ since gameday one has been Guirassy.
He is currently causing ‘unexpected heights in Swabia’ thanks to his goalscoring exploits, with 11 goals in six games in all competitions, a tally that puts Kane in the shade.
He’s continued and added to his form last season, when his 12 goals across the campaign were essential to the club staying up. Now he’s one goal away from that already and they’re third in the table.
That comes after a summer in which he had the opportunity to leave, with Fulham making their move for him late on as a potential replacement for Aleksandr Mitrovic.
He ‘consciously decided’ to turn that down, though, and remain in Stuttgart, where he is now shining beyond anyone’s belief.
That’s led to those in charge of the club thanking God for that decision, with the player now chasing records set by Robert Lewandowski and Gerd Muller and them competing far above where they expected to be.
It could have all been very different if he’d accepted that Fulham move, something he decided not to do, which looks to have been a very smart one in hindsight.
