With Saudi Arabian clubs trying to lure a lot of players to their league to join the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema, some club owners aren’t too happy about it.
One of those is John Textor, who has now seemingly publicly told the world about his displeasure as one of his Crystal Palace players is being targeted.
The news comes via Canal do TF in Brazil, where the Eagles owner jokingly complained about the pressure being put on clubs from Saudi Arabia, with all three of his (Lyon, Crystal Palace and Botafogo) affected by this.
He is quoted as saying: “The Saudis want everything. They want my best player at Lyon, my best player at Crystal Palace, the best players and my manager at Botafogo. They have a strategy of buying everything. We’ll see what will happen at Botafogo, but also in the world of football.”
While there are no names being dropped, there have been a number of rumours about Saudi clubs wanting Wilfried Zaha, whose contract at Crystal Palace ends in a number of days.
Whether he does go there remains to be seen, but what appears certain is that Textor isn’t best pleased about this and could end up losing some of his best players if the temptation becomes too much.
