Malaga are having something of a nervous wobble over Ignacio Camacho, if Marca are to be believed. The Spanish newspaper says there’s ‘tension’ over the current situation and nervousness that a club could come in before the end of the window and pay the player’s buyout clause.
All players in Spain have a buyout clause, but Camacho’s is €18m and that’s not thought to be enough to scare clubs off, it’s a low fee for a Premier League club to pay.
Added to that is Malaga being aware there’s interest. Marca say Leicester City are keen and have watched Camacho, having him on their agenda.
AS Monaco are said to be the most inetested, with the French principality club now always on the lookout for bargain purchases.
Camacho is 26 years of age and has been with Malaga since 2011, having come through the Atletico Madrid system.
The right footer is a very flexible player, so a boost for any squad. Camacho’s main position is defensive midfield, but he can also play more centrally and as a central defender.
Perhaps Danny Drinkwater renewing his contract should bring a little relief for Malaga, who, according to Marca, can’t wait for the window to close.
