Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has spoken to Girona’s Viktor Tsygankov ahead of a potential move for him.

That’s according to AS, who say Manchester United have ‘joined the list’ of suitors for the player and made contact with him and his entourage.

The newspaper explains that Girona are currently waiting for Tsygankov to return from an extended holiday after Euro 2024 but know they will likely have to battle to keep hold of him this summer.

While there is calm around the player’s situation, with them keen to get him signed to a new deal after his performances last season, there is a list of clubs looking to move for him.

Manchester United are one of them. They have not made a formal offer for the player but have contacted his environment and agent to tell them that they are going to ‘pursue him shortly.

They are drawing up plans to try convince the player and then negotiate a deal with Girona and Ten Hag has told Tsygankov that he wants to have him in his squad.

AS say this expression of interest has undoubtedly been accompanied by an economic proposal, although Tsygankov is not rushing into any decision about his future.

United are presumably keen because he has a €30m release clause in his contract, a figure that would not be something that could prevent them from signing him.

It’s a situation which is likely to develop in the coming weeks as he returns from holiday and clubs start to seriously move.
