Borussia Monchengladbach’s youngsters appear to have enjoyed their trip to Sunderland this week, with an impressive win earning praise and German happiness.

Earlier this week we covered how the group were travelling for a tournament in England and all seemingly looking forward to the trip, which even included players who had trained with the professionals.

The hope was that the youngsters could gain vital experience at an international level, while it also presented some with a chance to put themselves on the radar of other clubs.

A 3-0 win over Sunderland will have definitely helped do that, with Shio Fukuda standing out after bagging two of the three goals.

He currently plays in the U23s but has been struggling for form but found it here to put Sunderland to the sword and draw attention to himself.

Indeed, it was a good evening for several players, including defender Lukas Ullrich, who is expected to challenge Luca Netz in the first-team.

Everyone was certainly happy, including Streichsbier, who praised his team after the game.

“The team did a brilliant job of implementing what we discussed beforehand, namely getting the opponent to where good ball winning is possible,” he said.
