Vole journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu claims Besiktas board member Emre Kocadag and Rachid Ghezzal’s agent Anouir Fazouli have held talks as they look to extend the player’s stay in Istanbul.

Sabuncuoglu says talks between the two sides were unsuccessful after they failed to reach an agreement over financial terms.

Ghezzal was loaned out to Besiktas by Leicester City during last summer’s transfer window, and he was arguably the best player in the Turkish Super Lig last season. He helped Besiktas win the domestic double by scoring seven goals and providing 17 assists.

Following his impressive performances, Besiktas are looking to keep him in their squad for next season, but it seems they are far from achieving that at this stage.

Turkish journalist Ekrem Konur adds that Leicester City recently rejected a €10m bid from an unnamed Serie A club for the Algerian winger. He’s also been linked with a move to Ligue 1 side AS Monaco in recent weeks.

Ghezzal still has one year left on his Leicester City contract and subsequently it’s likely they will be looking for a reasonable transfer fee for him this summer.
