Crystal Palace’s Matheus França is once again on the radar in Brazil, with Vasco da Gama now jumping into the mix for the 21-year-old attacker.

As reported by local outlet Itatiaia Esporte, França has been identified as a target by Vasco head coach Fernando Diniz and director of football Felipe Loureiro, who believe he could plug one of the side’s attacking gaps.

Talks are underway with Crystal Palace as the Rio de Janeiro club test the waters over a possible return to his home city.

Another Brazilian outlet, Globo Esporte, claim that Palace are open to a loan, but without a purchase option, as the Premier League club remain reluctant to part with the youngster permanently.

That matches Vasco’s stance, as their priority is to secure short-term reinforcement for the second half of the season.

It’s already the second Brazilian side trying to get something done for the youngster this summer, after Cruzeiro also took a swing at it. That shows França still carries a healthy market back home.

Cruzeiro saw their reported attempt stall over financial demands, and now Vasco are having a go. Whether they can push it further than their rivals remains to be seen.
