Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s future at Manchester United seems to be under threat after the Red Devils suffered a 5-0 humiliating defeat at the hands of Liverpool at Old Trafford.

The loss on Sunday was the Premier League side’s third defeat in the last four league games. They have picked up seven points in six matches since September’s international break.

Earlier on Monday, reports in Italy stated ‘the shadow of Antonio Conte’ is on Solskjaer and Sport Mediset stressed United are ‘seriously thinking’ about the ex-Chelsea manager.

Conte is without a job since leaving Inter Milan back in May, just weeks after guiding them to Serie A success.

Calciomercato.it now state he has now emerged as a ‘priority’ candidate to replace the Norwegian, whose position in Manchester is ‘no longer safe’.

It’s explained ‘talks are underway’ for the Italian, who is leading the managerial target list, to take over the reins at Old Trafford.

As per the claims, Conte is ‘evaluating the actual interest of United’ in building a winning project.

The decision will also be subjected to economic factors since the 52-year-old is ‘unlikely’ to accept a lower salary.

Thus, despite Conte seemingly being a ‘priority’ for United, their project and financial details of the deal must suit him if he were to replace Solskjaer.

Otherwise, they might need to look elsewhere.
