Inter Milan have opened talks with Bournemouth for David Brooks as they plan to improve their right flank in this window.

That’s according to Calciomercato.it. they report that Inter are working to give manager Cristian Chivu a new signing in the position. That’s led them to opening talks with Bournemouth over Brooks.

They see the 28-year-old as more of an attacking winger than a full-back, but that is not seemingly an issue.

Brooks is managed by the same agency that controls the future of Hakan Çalhanoğlu, which may have opened the door to negotiations. A swap deal including Davide Frattesi has already been floated.

The midfielder is expected to leave Inter Milan this month and has been waiting on a move to Juventus. Frattesi was strongly linked with a move to Newcastle United in the summer, however, nothing came of that.

More recently it was reported Tottenham could be offered Frattesi as part payment for Guglielmo Vicario. Inter Milan are keen on the Spurs goalkeeper, but that idea didn’t get off the ground either.

A swap-deal is seen as complicated to get done. Although CM.it also say a straight deal for Brooks would also be complicated. They don’t explain why.

Bournemouth hold transfer power

What they do say is that Inter are evaluating several options and particular focus is being given to the Premier League. That’s put Brooks on their radar and talks are underway, although a major investment is unlikely at this point.

David Brooks has played 21 matches for Bournemouth so far this season. That’s totalled just over one thousand minutes, and produced two goals and two assists. He’s played a mix of right and left wing, and captained the Cherries on multiples occasions.

With a contract running until June 2029, the Premier League club hold the power here. Inter Milan, despite their obvious attractions, would surely struggle to build a deal.
