There’s a claim in the Turkish media that Besiktas are still trying to sign Rangers defender Rıdvan Yılmaz after being linked with him throughout this transfer window.

There have been reports in recent weeks that Rangers could offload the Turkey international despite Philippe Clement starting him in the past six league games. He also started last week’s Europa League tie against Manchester United.

Takvim today report on the latest developments regarding Besiktas’ pursuit for the 23-year-old and they say the Black Eagles are still in transfer talks with Rangers.

It’s claimed Besiktas are looking for a loan deal until the end of the season, with no reports of a purchase option in the summer. The Turkish media outlet also report Rangers could consider a free transfer, which is highly unlikely given the transfer fee they paid out for him.

The young left back came through the Besiktas youth system and went on to play 62 games for the Istanbul side before his transfer to Ibrox in 2022. There’s often reports about a return to Turkey but moves tend to collapse when Besiktas’ hopes of a bargain hit the Rangers reality.

Yilmaz has made 15 appearances for Rangers this season and is contracted to the Scottish club until June 2027.
