Burnley are on the verge of another signing this summer, as the club look to get back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

Relegated to the Championship after a disappointing season which saw the exit of much loved manager Sean Dyche, the club find themselves in 11th place after three matches. It’s still early days but Vincent Kompany will want his side to go on a run of wins as quickly as possible.

The manager has a lot to prove after a mixed experience in charge of Anderlecht, and has clearly been pushing for the club to back him in the transfer market.

Bild report Darko Churlinov is set to be Kompany’s latest recruit, with the attacker closing in on a move to Burnley from VfB Stuttgart. The 22-year-old was left of his club’s weekend game against Bremen, given how close the transfer is to being completed.

Stuttgart’s sporting director Sven Mislintat is quoted as saying: “The talks are extremely advanced, we will be able to report completion in a timely manner.”

The German newspaper have also spoken to the player’s agent Mehmet Eser, who told them: “Burnley and Kompany really wanted Darko, he was shown a clear plan. That really impressed him.”

Burnley are expected to pay around €5m including potential bonus payments.
