Giovani Lo Celso has returned to Tottenham Hotspur after spending last season on loan at Villarreal.
The 27-year-old is unlikely to be at the north London club next season after claims in both Spain and Italy have linked him to Real Betis, Barcelona and Napoli in recent days.
Speaking to Radio Punto Nuovo, the Tottenham player’s entourage have now admitted contact with the Serie A winners over a potential move this summer.
“We are talking about him, but at the moment nothing is closed yet,” Lo Celso’s entourage said.
Even though the Argentina internationals’ camp spoke a ‘few words’, the radio station says these comments indicate the midfielder is one of the first-choice targets for Napoli manager Rudi Garcia in this window.
Lo Celso has two years left on his deal at Spurs and the Naples club are reportedly trying to take him on a loan deal.
Earlier on Tuesday, Gazzetta dello Sport reported Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy doesn’t want to consider a simple loan and wants a redemption obligation included as part of the deal to allow the South American to leave Spurs.
