Feyenoord goalkeeper Justin Bijlow has talked to Manchester United this summer, although a move is unlikely after the arrival of Andre Onana.
That’s according to journalist Chris Woerts, who says the player has held discussions with those in charge at Old Trafford.
Manchester United have spent most of this summer transfer window looking for a new number one goalkeeper, with David De Gea leaving the club at the end of his contract at the beginning of this month.
They eventually completed a move for Inter’s Amadou Onana earlier this week, the Cameroon goalkeeper joining in a £47.2m deal from the Champions League finalists.
He will be the new number one at Old Trafford moving forwards, which should put an end to any rumours around other senior goalkeepers potentially arriving.
One player who had been linked was Bijlow, with a report at the beginning of this month stating that Manchester United had contacted the Netherlands international and Feyenoord regarding a potential transfer.
Woerts backs that up, insisting talks did take place before Onana’s big money arrival at Old Trafford this week.
“He did talk to Manchester United, but it didn’t work out,” he said.
“I called a number of people today and he is in the interest of two clubs. He still wants to leave. He really wants to leave.
“You never know, but he has spoken to Manchester, the clubs have spoken, but Onana has been chosen, I think he really wants to leave.”
