Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite has insisted that the club “undoubtedly” have a plan for him as he continues to shine at PSV Eindhoven.
The youngster is on loan at the Dutch club this season, having left Goodison Park temporarily in the summer in search of regular playing time.
He elected to reunite with Marcel Brands, the man who signed him for Everton, at PSV and move to the Eredivisie; a league that has been a proving ground for many young players down the years.
Branthwaite initially struggled to establish himself at his new club but has been a regular player since the World Cup break, establishing himself in the heart of Ruud van Nistelrooy’s defence.
He’s also found himself finding the back of the net, bagging a goal in the 6-0 win over FC Groningen as well as a double in the 3-1 win over FC Emmen in KNVB Cup.
Those goals have led to increased speculation about the Everton youngster, particularly with Van Nistelrooy insisting that he’s told those above him that he wants the defender on a permanent basis.
Whether that happens will be up to Everton, and Branthwaite insists he’s sure that they have their own ideas for the summer.
“I am really enjoying myself here, so I would definitely consider a longer stay at PSV,” he told Voetbal International.
“We’ll see if it works out, my contract at Everton still runs until 2025. That is still a long time and they will undoubtedly have a plan with me as well.
“But I’m not focusing on it. I’m at PSV now, I want to perform as well as I can and keep developing. We’ll see what happens, it’s something for later this season and not for now.”
