Brighton and Hove Albion youngster Jan Paul van Hecke is considered an ‘interesting option’ for PSV Eindhoven if they lose defender André Ramalho.
That’s according to Eindhovens Dagblad, who say the 23-year-old is on PSV’s list of potential options should they need to find a replacement for Ramalho this summer.
They explain that PSV have sat down with new manager Peter Bosz this week to discuss transfer options and changes to the squad ahead of next season.
They’re now jumping into that feet first after securing Bosz’s signature and finding a centre-back to replace Ramalho could be one of the jobs that needs doing.
The Brazilian defender has interest from outside Europe and PSV are willing to let him leave if they manage to ‘attract a good newcomer’ to replace him.
Brighton defender Van Hecke is an option in that regard, with the ‘talented’ 23-year-old seen as an ‘interesting option’ for the club to explore.
They would need to convince Brighton into letting him go, though, as the Seagulls have made it clear they would like to continue with him for longer after integrating him into Roberto de Zerbi’s side last season.
Van Hecke managed 11 appearances in all competitions under the Italian manager and started two of their last four games, including in the 1-1 draw with Manchester City and has seemingly convinced him enough to want to keep him next season.
