Swansea City are keen on Almería left Iván Martos this summer and have already expressed their interest to the Spanish club.

That’s according to La Voz de Almería, who say that the Swans have been won over by the player’s ‘professionalism’ and put him on their agenda.

Indeed, the Championship side are believed to have been watching the 22-year-old closely for some time and sending scouts to watch him in action.

There have been ‘contacts’ between the two sides in recent days, according to the newspaper, who believe that ‘everything points’ to the player being among the departures this summer.

In fact, they have learned that Swansea are hoping a deal will advance in the coming weeks, with manager Steve Cooper keen on securing his signature.

Martos, for his part, is only focused on Almería at present but it is speculated that he would ‘surely’ be tempted by the move to the Championship, which would offer a ‘leap forward’ in career terms.

Whether that is to Swansea, though, remains to be seen, with the same newspaper reporting they are not the only English side looking at him.

They claim there are two other sides ‘collecting reports’ on the left-back, who can also double as a centre back, meaning the Swans may face a fight for his signature if they do not move quickly.
