Swansea City are reportedly in the race for Achraf Lazaar from Palermo.

According to Monday’s edition of O Jogo, the Welsh side have joined the competition to sign the Moroccan left-back, along with French club Lyon and Portugal’s Sporting.

Palermo are reportedly asking €5m for Lazaar, but as his contract expires next summer, clubs are understandably using this as a tool in negotiations, looking to get the price down.

The 24-year-old’s departure is seen as quite certain in Italy. O Jogo uses quotes from the Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini, who said last week: “Lazaar wants to go and already asked me this one year ago. I’ll bring a player even better than him.”

The Portuguese newspaper says the player has the desire of playing the Champions League, so that’s why Sporting would be winning the battle for him so far.
