Turin newspaper Tuttosport are getting every inch out of the Gianluigi Buffon situation, and that means linking him with a whole host of clubs, including Chelsea.
It’s not the wildest link, that’s probably Manchester City, given they have Ederson all tied up for now the future.
Chelsea are said to be waiting for offers for Thibaut Courtois, willing to part with the player given his contract situation.
With a deal running out in June 2019, the Belgian international has the option to string Chelsea along and leave on a free, renew his contract, or move this summer for a fee.
That’s not the best situation for Chelsea and it wouldn’t be surprising if they took steps to take back control.
If Atletico Madrid would be up for it (and additional money may be required from Chelsea) then a swap with Jan Oblak makes sense to Sport Witness, meaning the Blues don’t lose out and Courtois gets to live in Madrid… although he’d be unlikely to get the bumper money he wants.
Anyway, back to Tuttosport and Buffon, they say the goalkeeper’s name ‘circulates at Stamford Bridge’ as a potential signing.
It’s unlikely, but doesn’t sound the worst plan in the world.
