Lisandro Martinez hasn’t played a match for Manchester United since the beginning of February, and has missed most of the club’s games this season due to injury.
The central defender, a key player for Erik ten Hag, has been struggling with a foot and then a knee injury. The Red Devils manager recently said he’d like to have the Argentine back before the end of the season, given how important he is for the team.
April was therefore seen as a possibility, however, it looks like Martinez could be back on the pitch before then, but for his national side instead of Manchester United.
TyC Sports are reporting Martinez has been called up for the next international break, during which the World Cup winners are playing two matches in the US.
The first is against El Salvador on March 23rd, and then the country faces Costa Rica on March 27th.
On one hand it’s positive that he’s set to return, yet on the another there’ll absolutely be concern about Martinez picking another issue if he’s rushed back too soon.
