Even though Saudi clubs have been coming strong into the European market, Manchester United have been one of the clubs who haven’t lost any of their players to the Arab League so far.
It turns out that according to new reports, Al-Ittihad are actually interest in a player from the Red Devils.
The information actually comes from Brazil, where UOL journalist Bruno Andrade says the Arab club are looking for a ‘great defensive reinforcement’.
The reason why it’s the Brazilian media covering it is that Paris Saint Germain’s Marquinhos is said to be amont the main names in the list.
Then there’s another player mentioned, and that’s Manchester United’s Raphael Varane.
There are no details on how strong Al-Ittihad’s interest in the Frenchman is, or how much they’re willing to bid for him.
It’s just made clear that their priority is to sign a top centre-back, and they’re coming for the big names. No bids have been made for Marquinhos so far, and that seems to be the same with Varane.
Signed by Manchester United on a €40m deal from Real Madrid in 2021, the centre-back is currently valued by Transfermarkt at €35m. His contract with the Red Devils runs until 2025.
Al-Ittihad’s list of signings this summer includes Fabinho, Jota, Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kanté.
