Just a couple of days ago, the Italian media had sounded positive about Brighton & Hove Albion’s chase for Lazar Samardžić.

It had been claimed that the Seagulls had moved by closing an agreement with his entourage and would now negotiate with Udinese for his transfer.

It turns out that as Calciomercato now features a story on the player’s future, they don’t make it sound very good for Brighton.

It’s first claimed that Juventus and Napoli are also in a strong chase for him, in a competition which could last until the summer.

Speaking of the foreign interest in Samardžić, it’s said that Brighton indeed made an enquire for the player a few weeks ago, but didn’t start a ‘real negotiation’.

A reason why the Seagulls may be falling behind the competition is that Samardžić ‘wants to stay’ in the Serie A, waiting for the best option.

With many players dreaming of moving to the Premier League, that may sound like a surprising statement for Brighton, who may need to use some other arguments to try to attract him in the summer.
