Late in the day on Monday, news emerged from France that Paris Saint-Germain were doing their best to beat Bayern Munich to the signing of Tottenham’s Harry Kane.
The Spurs star appeared to be set on a move to Bavaria and was waiting for the two clubs to agree on a fee, but then the Ligue 1 side came knocking.
L’Equipe have an article on this on Tuesday morning in their paper, where they back up claims that the Ligue 1 side have ‘concretely manifested’ their interest in the Tottenham star these past few days.
It’s said that while the first meeting Nasser Al-Khelaifi had with Kane’s entourage goes back to June, things have changed since then, as he appears more inclined to an adventure abroad.
The Paris Saint-Germain president has also stayed in touch with Daniel Levy, with whom he has a ‘more than cordial relationship’.
It’s stated the Tottenham chairman has ‘regular exchanges’ with his counterpart in Paris, and the subject of a Kane transfer was brought up again ‘without formal negotiations’ being started.
Al-Khelaifi isn’t alone in this, either, as Pini Zahavi, the original super agent, is trying to ‘make Levy understand’ that it is in his ‘best interest’ to sell Kane to Paris Saint-Germain.
While the Tottenham boss had Kane’s word that he wouldn’t leave on a free next summer, that stance has now changed, even if a move to the French league isn’t ‘the destination he dreams of’.
That’s why PSG will now be trying to convince him that it would be good for him, and only once they have his word will they make an offer to Spurs.
