Over the past week or so, the Italian media have covered Sunderland’s interest in Lazio’s Mattéo Guendouzi.

Last week, Sunderland manager Régis Le Bris said he’s in contact with the midfielder who he previously managed at FC Lorient.

The Frenchman isn’t the only Lazio player on Sunderland’s agenda for the winter market.

That’s according to La Repubblica, relayed by LazioNews24, who report the Black Cats are in the picture for Lazio’s Fisayo Dele-Bashiru.

The Premier League side are looking to strengthen their midfield in January. This has seen them look at a few options and they’re said to be considering the 24-year-old.

Dele-Bashiru made four league appearances this season before suffering a hamstring injury in September. He hasn’t featured for the Serie A club since then.

The Nigeria international has a contract lasting until 2028 but Maurizio Sarri considers hima transferable player. Lazio would also be in favour of a move as the report says Dele-Bashiru’s ‘transfer is possible in January’.

His situation favours Sunderland, but it isn’t clear whether they have will make advances to sign him in the next window.

The report states Dele-Bashiru’s situation could evolve depending on the developments in the market.
