Sunderland midfielder Emanuele Giaccherini continues to be chased by several Italian sides. The 31-year-old, who spent the last season on loan at Bologna, has his contract with the Black Cats expiring next summer, so a departure this window seems likely.
The local media have been reporting the Italian interest in ‘Giak’ for a few months, and now TuttoSport says Torino are closer to signing the player.
The Turin club would be facing the competition of Fiorentina, AC Milan and Bologna for the transfer, but are still considered to be leading the race as contacts are already being made.
Tuttosport says the negotiations are reaching a decisive point, so the midfielder’s future could be decided soon. They don’t mention how much Sunderland want to sell him for, but recent reports from Italy said he should be worth around €4m.
Giaccherini signed for Sunderland from Juventus in 2013 for €7.5m. He made 43 appearances for the club, with five goals and five assists.
