While the news surrounding Sunderland isn’t the rosiest at the moment, what with an owner looking to sell and still no manager as pre-season gets closer and closer, it’s always nice to find out that you’re still owed money.

Buying Argentinean forward Ignacio Scocco from Internacional in Brazil in January 2014, the now 32-year-old’s experience with the Black Cats was anything but positive, and the forward was sold less than six months later to Newell’s in his home country.

However, here we are, nearly three years later, and Sunderland are still owed $1.8m (£1.43m) from the reported £2.76m they sold the player for.

According to Pagina12 in Argentina, Scocco wants out of Newell’s this summer due to financial and institutional problems at the club, but in order for him to do so, they need to find a club who can pay what’s left of the transfer fee to Sunderland.

As things stand, there are three $600k instalments left to pay: one now, one in October and the last one next year.

Pagina12 say that whoever agrees to pay that money will get the 32-year-old, who still scored 11 goals in 20 games for Newell’s last year.

Teams from America, Chile and Greece are sad to be interested, but an offer has yet to reach the club’s offices.
